Underutilised fruit species are normally domesticated in the home gardens and mixed orchards, while the wild species are found growing at the jungle fringes or in the forests. These underutilised fruit species do not only serves as a sources of food and nutrition but also contribute to the economic benefits of local communities. From several surveys conducted, it has been estimated that more than 300 underutilised fruit species are found in the home gardens and mixed orchards. Unfortunately, the diversity and potentials of these species have not been fully exploited. These species are however, rapidly lost due to urbanisation and land clearing.
